Look out Maisie!
This. rocks.
Finn and Jackie
It seems that once Finn turned a year old, the signing really took off. He "says" several words now. They aren't by any means executed perfectly like the child who demonstrates the signs on signingbaby.com*, but we know what he means, which is half the battle of communicating. When he signs "kitty" he also says something that sounds remarkable like "kitty" in a sugary sweet tone. He also knows what I mean, even if he won't do the sign himself, for example if I do the sign for water, his eyes light up and he flaps his arms madly as if to say It took you long enough to figure out that I am thirsty here!
He also did "apple" tonight for the first time, which is like twisting your index finger knuckle in your cheek. (He twists his fingertips against his ear but whatever. We get it)
*A good website that demos the signs is commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/browser.htm
"Kitty"
"Apple"
Admiring emily
"Up"
"Milk" (his right hand)
(While he still has blueberry in his mouth.)
In other Finn related news, he had his first nasty spill which resulted in a cut upper lip. Needless to say it was awful although he recovered from it much faster than I did.
