North Carolina Part Two

We finally visited Jen's aunt, Tia Pieta, ('mima' to Finn) at her new house in North Carolina. Finn met his 8 month old cousin, Kaia and saw his Tia's and Tio's Fiona and Niels. Next time we will stay longer Tia Pieta and thats a threat. I mean, promise.

What happened to the 'Balla' and more.

In this first picture, Finn has discovered that under the sink is a fine spot to play hide and seek. I didn't tell him that I could still see him because he looked so proud of himself and I didn't want to burst his bubble; but more about that with photo #2...

The story of the Balla...it all started on Charles St, where the nice lady at the Red Wagon Store gave us a fantastic green helium balloon. Finn was mesmerized the entire rest of the day, saying "Balla?, Balla?.....Ballaaaaa!". We ate with Balla, we bathed with Balla, and Balla got tied to the edge of the changing table at bedtime so he could wake up and see Balla first thing in the morning and you'll never guess what words Mama woke up to the next day. Thats right. Balla had depreciated in size somehwat, but Finn was still deeply enamoured by Balla, and again we dragged the balloon everywhere. The next day, Finn was playing with Balla in the living room while I answered some mail. Thats when I heard it. A dull pop, signifying Balla's exit from this world. Finn howled, and Balla was sorely missed for at least oh....ten minutes.

We got a sandbox!

15 Months!

Yesterday he had his 15 month check up, Finn is 33 inches tall, putting him in the 90's percentile for height and at 27 and a half pounds, he is in the 80's percentile for weight. He loves anything with an engine-planes, trains, buses, cars and makes the appropriate "brrrrrrrr" sounds when he encounters one. He loves babies, and makes the sign adamantly when we see anyone slightly smaller than him. He says bye bye all the time, especially if someone has just arrived, making them feel, unfortunately, less than welcome. Of course he says dada all day long too, and says "ma?" if he wants something, in particular, milk.
He is also a big fan of ducks and birds in general, he signs bird and in a very high pitch says "daadaadaaaaa!" even if he just hears one outside.
He is walking along well, and in the past week has decided he doesn't always need to hold mamas hand anymore.
Food wise, he still eats well, edamame was a big hit recently, but some days he doesn't want anything to do with food at all.
He is also picking up some German- when I ask him where his head is, he pats his head and when he wants a book, he says "buch-buch".
All in all he's great and time keeps flying.

At the Zoo

Lots to do...check out fish, pet some goats, look at baby gorillas...
and see if you can see the racing stripe (scab) going down Finn's nose where he took a face-plant in the backyard

Mealtime photos

Finn is using a fork and spoon now when he eats, although he crams much more in his mouth when he uses his hands.
In the last picture (which is here as testimony) he is eating, of all things, seaweed salad, and despite the expression, he loves it and can't shovel it in fast enough.
